I think Molyneux has revolutionized gaming, and is the source of some really awesome and innovative things. He often falls into two traps, in my eyes.

Either the world isn't ready for him or technology isn't ready for him or his team isn't ready for him in some cases. The minimal interface in Black and White scared a lot of people. The memory limitations that he was able to work around in Populous weren't felled as easily with Fable 1. He gets full of ideas, is able to execute on some really awesome ones, but isn't able to on others.

The other trap he falls into is the hype machine. He promises gamers the world, the gamers and gaming press gets excited about it, and reality comes in later to ruin everyone's day. Sometimes he really doesn't promise the world, but makes some side comment that's presented as an idea or possibility that's quoted out of context and run with to an illogical conclusion. Guy needs to learn to STFU and speak up when he knows what's going to be launched. And launch stuff when it's ready. Like Blizzard, for most everything except certain elements of a certain MMO.
