One of the girls I went to Circus Mexicus with grew up in Edison. Today, on the way to their show in Asbury Park, we agreed to meet up at her place. She lives just south of where 27 & the GSP intersect, by the guy Dan used to drive around's building, by one of my best friends in high school's house, by my allergist... yeah.

While sitting in the pizza place with [livejournal.com profile] jenniever and the rest of the girls (on Oak Tree Road, by the roller skating place), I picked her brain for changes to the neighborhood. The diner and inn on Route 9 north heading into where 1&9 merge, gone. The Service Merchandise I remember getting my Serpentor action figure from went through a few stores, and is now a Best Buy. Wow.

Oh yeah, Romanowski St & Pershing Ave was the one right outside my grandfather's yard in Carteret!

Yup, right there on the border between the Port Reading section of Woodbridge and Carteret, where my mom ([livejournal.com profile] quillter) used to work.

Janet Wong had a friend who grew up in Port Reading who was friends with one of my best friends in high school. Really.

Go diagonally across the street from that particular corner it's pointing to and that was my grandfather's apartment building (grey roof), house (tan roof - family built both when they settled in Carteret), and yard/garden on the corner in between.

I miss that place... even though I don't know who owns it anymore I should take a field trip there next time I'm in NJ.
