What do you do when your name matches someone in the news? Set up a fake blog about the person, of course!

As someone who regularly has a couple dozen tabs open at any given moment, I'm curious to see how Chrome performs insofar as the back end changes. Looks great in Aero, [livejournal.com profile] windexcowboy reports that it's not so pretty in XP. Will it handle the [livejournal.com profile] kingfox load? We'll find out tonight.

At the post-handout pre-handout party annual BBQ dinner, we had a seating arrangement problem that [livejournal.com profile] jasonio ended up solving. He, his wife, [livejournal.com profile] windexcowboy, [livejournal.com profile] shmivejournal, [livejournal.com profile] jedimentat, [livejournal.com profile] caniswolfie, his wife, and I were seated at a table. While keeping couples together, people had to be re-seated so that four of us were close enough to have the fatty platter, in as few moves as possible. [livejournal.com profile] jasonio did it in only three, which should make his algorithms professor happy. [livejournal.com profile] shmivejournal joked about it being bubble sort, which left me cracking up the rest of the dinner.

I'm glad I got to enjoy some of the fatty platter and didn't have to switch locations with anyone. That would have been a non-ideal solution to the problem.

Thanks for letting us crash there!

The cats weren't too bad in the morning, particularly after they got food.

Making it an odd number with additional social interactions would have confused things even further.

Chrome looks pretty, starts fast, and I love the incognito mode. But... uh... does Google think its users are ALL retarded? Why can't I select an install path?

I run firefox from a thumbdrive so I can browse at work and on my lappy without much session interruption. I've configured it to not leave a browser history and the only cache is stored in RAM, not on the drive. Basically, it's incognito mode. Leaves nothing behind, and everything stays on the thumbdrive, which I can encrypt if I need to feel safe.

I know Chrome is still in Beta, but this is such a simplistic feature that I can only be insulted by their assumption of the average user's aptitude. They want to make a browser that revolutionizes the industry and replaces all others, but that's a bad start.

Chrome's good for this. But yeah, the dumbed down installation was fast... and narrow in its scope.
