Web 2.0 lunch menu faxing

[livejournal.com profile] agent179 is a regular at Drip, a local coffee establishment in downtown Madison. He's friendly with all of the employees there, and has even gotten [livejournal.com profile] windexcowboy to make it part of his morning ritual as well.

He's even Facebook friends with the employees there, which leads to a modern web 2.0 version of the daily specials from the local restaurant being faxed to your office (I'm amazed a lot of places still do that). They just wrote the daily specials on his wall a few minutes ago.

todays soup is mediterranean chicken the sandwhiches are a roast pork with cabbage slaw on foccacia, we alsohave an olive cream cheese cucumber red pepper fennel and sunflower seeds on whole grain
Now that's service. If only local Hoboken eateries offered the same. Now that Rue de Jardin is no more, [livejournal.com profile] petemagyar and I are reduced to coffee from Empire, which doesn't even offer the best crepes in town, let alone fantastic goat cheese sandwiches which make you believe in a supreme being.

I approve of this sustainable "green" lunch menu dissemination. Twitter, Facebook wall write, Dodgeball shout-out, whatever.

OK, that's a really good idea. Wonder if other places are doing (or considering) the same thing.

[identity profile] kingfox.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
If I owned a place like that, I'd totally offer specials through Twitter, RSS, wall writing, whatever.

[identity profile] agentorrange.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
That's really cool in a "I hope I notice the specials in between the twenty seven other notifications that Facebook apps are bombarding me with" type of way.

[identity profile] kingfox.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
You... ...don't have just about every app blocked by now?

How do you live?

[identity profile] kingfox.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
But how are you going to have a Sidequests Facebook page? It worked for Obama.

[identity profile] agentorrange.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really know enough about copyright laws to separate the facts from the alarmist fiction when it comes to uploading the strips to Facebook honestly.

[identity profile] kingfox.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, god no, I wouldn't suggest uploading them despite Facebook backing up and reverting to their older terms of use after the community freaked out. I'm saying just a simple fan page type page that people could say "I'm a fan of Sidequests".

[identity profile] agentorrange.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah that could be cool.
I'll have to take the time to figure out how to make one of those.

I think if I simply had a morning coffee ritual with [livejournal.com profile] windexcowboy, I'd have way fewer attitude problems. Maybe I really should embark on this whole minister profession and just go to the theology school.

I approve of this idea. Enroll today!

I've heard nothing but good things about Drip. Haven't gotten a chance to try it yet though.

[identity profile] kingfox.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't tried any of their non-coffee options yet, but the coffee's good.

I'm glad I don't work right across the central room from the upstairs coffee joint, it would be much harder to avoid their overpriced fare.

[identity profile] skagirlie.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm gonna borrow this, if that's cool.

[identity profile] kingfox.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
The picture or the words?

You're welcome to both, but the former I just borrowed from some random Flickr person.
