People chuckle when I start ranting about open source hippies. Now read this Bugzilla report. There's the problem with open source, RIGHT THERE. Read the whole bug description, if you can.

Yes, I know it's a serious bug. Yes, I know it should be fixed. But just read the bug and his comments to himself and avoid cracking up.

well, shit ...

They *do* say

The more you can tell us, the better our chance of being able to understand and reproduce your bug ... Please be descriptive and use lots of keywords ... Expand on the Summary. Please be as specific as possible about what is wrong.

He's just being helpful. ;)

On another note, what does this have to do with open source? You don't think MS gets bug reports like this submitted to them? The diff. with (Mo-/Bug-)zilla is that we can see if and when bugs were fixed.

Even if it takes almost three years to fix a pretty simple bug (or at least one that seemed straightforward).

From the bug report:
    Reproducible: Didn't try
    Steps to Reproduce:
are you kidding me? Did you see what I wrote up there ^ ??

I've seen shitty smart ass bug reports like this before while doing QA at one of my two previous open source SW employers. It's unfortunate, because while it's a serious bug - that development team is probably so overloaded that it's highly doubtful anyone will take the time to reproduce that recipe.

Oh well, another great idea shot all to hell because the messenger didn't understand that shutting his mouth and listening with his ears, not his ego, might get the point across.
