UPDATE: My attempt last night to test lactose intolerance went through, and I feel fine. The only mark from the hospital stay is the sore red dot I ate through. And the doctor I met at the hospital has tried to set me up to get a camera up my ass tomorrow without, I don't know, checking first with me?

My parents have lox shipped to them overnight (in a crazy styrofoam package with icepacks in it). They live in Louisville, Ky. now.

I live in the DC area; bagels are bad, but not totally awful.

I'm glad I don't have full-time access to real NY/NJ food, because I'm trying to *lose* weight.

Every time I visit the City, I freaking gorge myself.

Yeah, it's overrated. And I had a she-male (man hands) as my server once.

The DC food is pretty good though. For some reason, Ethiopean (picture Indian food with a spongey, sour bread instead of rice) and Vietnamese (noodle soup with herbs and beef parts) are really huge here.

Yeah, I've seen dozens of Ethiopean places down there, some good shit.

runstaverun and I just tried the Vietnamese place near him. I've had Vietnamese before, doesn't blow me away. If I'm going to do SARS-region food, I'll go for Korean or Thai.
